A new clothing line designed by a NTHS student is on the verge of making it big. It is called Black Heartz.

You may know that Phil Frazier, senior, plays football on the varsity team, but what you may not know is that Frazier is the man behind Black Heartz.
“I was inspired by another brand that goes by the name of Johnny Cupcakes,” he said. “He [the founder] was very influential to my business.”

When Frazier decided that he wanted to become an entrepreneur, he was determined to make it happen.

“I started this brand in the spring of ’09. I was freshly young in my freshman year of high school. I didn’t really know much about business let alone starting a clothing brand. But what really drove me to pursue this dream was that in my generation, there was a wide case of un-originality. I felt the need to fill that void with something people could relate to and yet distance themselves from the un-orignal trends,” according to Frazier’s website.

Many friends and family and twitter fans support Frazier’s business. He said. “There are other local businesses that support me as well such as Sandtown Millworks, Know Preservatives, Leftover Cake, DMV JAMS, and Hip Hop State of Sunshine.”

“… Black Heartz doesn’t fit into any one category or genre. Some people might classify it as a clothing brand, or street-wear, or a fashion brand, or products based around Hearts, or just simple, minimal T-shirts. While Black Heartz could be called any one of these, it doesn’t really fit into just one category. Black Heartz is Black Heartz,” he said on his website. “It’s its own thing, ya know.”

Fraizer plans to study business in college. “I really don’t plan on going to school for fashion because I plan on going to a four year college with a good football program and major in business marketing,” he said.

Although he is quick to admit that he did not follow conventional means when he started his clothing brand. “Black Heartz didn’t start with a formal business plan, and in fact, I had very little background in business. Rather than following the “traditional” model of starting a business, I just tried to apply common sense and research to figure things out as they came up. I’ve found that the best way of learning is by doing,” according to Frazier’s website.

In 2009, Frazier established his own website. On it, he showcases a great variety of clothing for men and women. Customers can also place orders at the site. His store uses PayPal for payments and accepts major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover or direct payments.

Frazier is also on Twitter and you can follow him @BlackHeartzCo and follow the business @BlackHeartzClo. He often provides updates on sales and discounts.

“Will Hearts always be what Black Heartz is about? Maybe, maybe not. The product line will continue to evolve and progress as time goes on. I’ve got so many ideas that I can’t wait to bring to life. It’s exciting to think about what Black Heartz will look like a year from now or even five years from now,” Frazier said on his website.
