Having won its first game earlier this season, a team of outstanding students from New Town High School competed in an IT’S ACADEMIC playoff match with two other first round winners—Gilman School in Baltimore and Towson High School in Baltimore. The exciting game was eventually won by Gilman School.

The match will be aired Saturday, May 28, at 10:00, on WJZ-TV, Channel 13.

The New Town team consists of Aminata Traore, David Copeland, and Yemi Bankole. Their faculty coaches are Adam Carney and Jeff O’Connor.

IT’S ACADEMIC has been recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as “the world’s longest-running television quiz program.” The program is sponsored by GIANT FOOD and MORGAN UNIVERSITY. Dave Zahren is the host of IT’S ACADEMIC on WJZ.
