Working is Work

Going to school everyday and having to work almost everyday is a very hard thing to do. It takes a lot of work to keep my grades up and still do a good job when I am on the job.
I work at JCPenny’s in Owings Mills Mall; it’s pretty cool. I get a 20% discount, and I get to use any store coupons that I find. Here’s the tough part. I leave school at 2:30, and I go to work at 4:00. Since I don’t have a way to work, I have to ride the bus to the mall. That means, I have to stay at the mall until it’s time for me to start working.
When my work hours begin, I work the floor, and I assist customers in paying for their items. I enjoy walking around the store, asking people if they need help and offering assistance to those in my department. The mall closes at 9 p.m., but my job doesn’t end then. I have to walk around and organize the clothes and items that were thrown on the floor. So, by the time I leave and get home, it’s almost 10 p.m. Then I have to get up and go to school the next day. I want to show my supervisors that I am able to handle the pressure of work and school, so they won’t fire or try write me up.
Working a part time job would be easy, if I didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to go to school. Working may be fun in the beginning because you’re working and making money, but, I have not lost my focus, school, that’s the important thing.
