“Although there were a few glitches along the way, we still got through them and our concert was a plus,” said Ms. Albert, dance teacher.
The concert, which took place on December 6th in the school’s auditorium, featured many dance styles including ballet, modern, hip hop, jazz, and
African.
From the first day of school, until the day of the concert, dancers worked hard to master the tricks, turns, and jumps of each
dance.
Ms. Owens, guidance, said, “Oh my goodness! Yes, I really enjoyed the different dance styles!” Owens did not attend the actual concert, but she
stopped into the recital held for elementary students from New Town and Chatsworth Elementary Schools.
A number of people, like senior Jacquynn Churchill, decided to attend the winter dance concert after hearing the event advertised in school.
Churchill said, “Yes, it was my first time attending a dance recital, and it was very nice, organized, and graceful.” She also said the songs by Adele, and the many instrumental songs increased the intensity of the show.
Yanni Hurt, sophomore, also enjoyed the performance. Hurt said, “There were a lot of nice and graceful dancers and a big
variety of music. I could feel the intensity from … [the] dancing.”
“The concert went good for me,” said Jazmin Johnson, performer. “I felt like everything ran smoothly and it was a good concert.”
Attendees can expect a few surprises during the spring recital scheduled for May.
